Aromatic cane in the Hebrew original is kane-besm very similar to modern Hebrew Kanebos for cannibis

Christ is the English form of the Greek word Χριστός (Christós), which means literally The Anointed One. The word was originally used to translate the Hebrew word מָשִׁיחַ (Mašíaḥ), that is Messiah.
I would be more shocked if the bible contained no references to possible hallucinogenic drugs. Most people have known about the positive qualities of a number of drugs. Scientists are only now studying the effects of hallucinogenic mushrooms on depression, and so far, the tests are proving that occasional use actually lifts depression.
And I think it's interesting that you found that reference. I wonder what most Christian Conservatives would think of that, being that they are completely against anything even remotely like that.
