Is my ball about to shed?
Just recently my ball python started rubbing his head all over his wooden huiding spots.. his eye's are not blue yet..his stomach is a little pink but does this mean he's going into shed soon? I also put in a container lined with wet paper towels..just open like a bowl. Was this alright to do? He seemed to go in it right away just making sure. thanks. Also his humidity is 70% is this too high?
Well it's good to raise the humidity when snakes are fixing to shed. It helps them get their skin off easier. My ball stays about 60 % humidity but I raise it to 70 before shedding. If the belly is turning pink, it's a good indicator it'll shed soon. But it's eyes will turn blue first. My ball is just a baby, barely 20 inches long. But when he sheds, he stays hidden for a day or two, then his eyes turn completely blue for two or three days, then the same day that his eyes clear up, he sheds. Baths are good for shedding too. Your humidity is just right for your snake right now and I would say you should expect to see his eyes change in the next few days. Good luck! Snakes are awesome!
