How do I stop the colour in my parrot toys from running?
Okay, so it's not a greatly well-worded question, but basically, I have this parrot toy for my cockatiels and it's some sort of three branch thing with rings and stuff -.-;;
Anyway, my cockatiels love sitting on it and spinning around and what have you, but the problem is the toy's dyed a rather vivid selection of reds, blues and greens, and my birds (being the fools they are) like to first bathe in their water bowl, then sit on the red bit, meaning that whenever I go to the cage, they look like they've just re-enacted some scene of the Texa Chainsaw Massacre, and I have a heart attack...
Anyway, the real question is does anyone know how to stop the dye running? I'm soaking the toy in hot water at the moment but I'm not sure if that'll work...
Any suggestions before my heart gives way?
after you have boiled as much of the color out as you can .place it in the sun to dry for a 3 or 4 days to make sure it is very very dry (or use your oven set at 200 until it is dry it may take 4 or 5 hours) then soak in white vinegar for 2 days then dry as before.
