Chanting and the Reiki Mantra
The winter season gives every person the chance to look deeper into one's self and reconnect to everything around him. It is also the best time to celebrate that burning light inside. Look in your Reiki foundation and try to clear away all the old thoughts, beliefs and patterns that complete you. Then try to shed their energy.
Allow it to create a way towards a new experience or expression of life. This practice is perfect for the Reiki New Year. During such time, the clearing and cleaning process of oneself commences. And you can use the gift of chanting to help you greatly. Chanting is a major part of Karuna Reiki. Everybody who meditates daily would feel that their body has the natural tendency to sing and move.
Chanting can be incorporated to a Reiki mantra. But first, you have to select the part of your life that you want to improve. Choose the best mantra that fits to your chosen situation. Then offer God a prayer. Put your hands in Gassho position. Request God's bountiful blessings. Visualize the symbol of distance. Send it towards you and the mantra. Ask as to when and where you should say the mantra daily. Also ask how frequently you have to say it in a day. It is possible to get a rosary or a beaded necklace to help you count the mantra you've said. Mantras are powerful. Chant it once everyday for forty days for a cumulative effect.
A good example of Reiki mantra you can use is Om Mani Padme Hum. This mantra is very popular all over the world. It is the mantra that produces a compassionate state, which manifests in obvious and subtle ways. This mantra says that if the mind and the heart become one, nothing is impossible. It exudes the compassion energy found in the Usui emotional and mental symbol, as well as the Harth symbol of the Karuna. The translation the Om Mani Padme Hum mantra is: Om to the mind jewel reaching the heart lotus. This mantra can be used to alter the world and make it better.
Om is the root sound used by brow chakra. Through it, a person's masculine and feminine currents meet. It resembles the energy currents that are represented by serpents in Caduceus, the popular medical symbol. The center staff in that symbol is the spine. Om sets off brow chakra. It pertains to the state where a person unites with God's spirit, thus making his existence immortal and free.
Try to be more sensitive to the obstacles and resistance from inside you as you proceed with this 40-day chanting. Try to chant everyday where you feel joy. Then utter a prayer thanking God for the experience.

Prayer flags??
Would having the "om mani padme hum" mantra written over and over again be enough to have on a prayer flag?
In Buddhist practices, many prayer flags dont even need to have anything written on them.
To be placed reverently and with pure hearts is enough.
Each time the flag flutters in the wind one more prayer is carried aloft.
Prayer flags are frequently placed on high windy places for this reason.
